Our Mission

Catholic Dance Crew is a community of young adults who desire to grow in fellowship, develop intrinsic connections as dancers, serve the Church, and witness our Catholic faith through a shared passion for dance. Events, held across dioceses as well as in secular spaces, provide a non intimidating way for young adults to come together, meet new people, get involved, and give their time, talents, and treasures in service of the Church. Catholic Dance Crew seeks to evangelize diverse populations by inviting Catholics and non-Catholics alike to events in a variety of spaces, praising His name with dancing [Psalm 149:3].

Our Exec Team

Catholic Lead

Autumn Tran started dancing in Oregon (shoutout to the Cross-Eyed Cricket!) and met her husband while dancing in the Bay. After moving to the area, she continued to go out to bars and CDC Workshops. Having a lot of experience with event planning and logistics as well as a knack for HR, she joined the executive team to help organize procedures and structures as Catholic Dance Crew began to formalize. As the Catholic Lead, Autumn manages events within the Catholic sphere including Young Adult Group Collabs, Catholic school teaches, and other fun events. Autumn loves to see folks out evangelizing in such a unique way, participating in a very special community of shared-value individuals, and that bubbly feeling you get when you master a new dance.

Dance Lead

Darran Casey started dancing in summer of 2016 at Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, CA thanks to inspiration from his older brother. Darran fell in love instantly and took every opportunity he could get to dance, even teaching for college clubs and friends’ birthdays pre-pandemic.

After the pandemic dancing hiatus, an old friend from the Saddle Rack showed Darran a new side of line dancing. He quickly started learning about stepsheets, choreographers, and new line dance styles before choreographing line dances himself. Passion for events and choreography took him all over the country which culminated in claiming the Overall Choreography Award for his dance Be Obnoxious (co-choreographed with his friend Jason Aban) at Sunshine n Line 2024 – The Florida Masters, taking him to teaching along with Jason at World Dance Masters in Blackpool, England.

Darran finds fuel in sharing all that he has learned with new crowds that come from little to no experience but a strong enthusiasm and excitement to learn, just as he was back in 2016.

Crew Lead

Christina Pirrotta started country line dancing in September 2022 when she moved to the Bay Area after college. Although she had sworn off dancing after a brief stint with ballet as a kid, on a whim she decided to go to a country bar with some new Catholic friends. She ended up liking it so much that she spent a ton of time learning line dances off of YouTube and after, decided to lead a dance workshop at a church hall to teach new friends so they could learn the dances before coming out to the bars.

Due to her love of running Instagram accounts, she created the original @catholic.dance.crew account that now has over 9,000 followers. As the Crew Lead, Christina manages all external events, drives communication with current and developing branches, and – of course – runs the Instagram account.

Christina loves planning events and building community and finds dance to be a uniquely social and active hobby which is a great way to bring people together. She loves seeing people gain confidence through learning dance and also creating spaces for people to connect over shared values and interests.
